OUTDOOR FIRST AID TRAINING  

Did you know that there were 158 fatal injuries to workers in the agriculture, forestry and fishing sector in the last 5 years? Sadly, the fate of ill-fated adventurous souls makes the headlines far too often.  Our training is ideal for those who work or intend to work in a forestry, agricultural or remote environments, such as outdoor instructors, guides, public school D of E teachers, tree surgeons and farmers. Courses are run by experienced Mountain Leaders with a Pre- Hospital background. 

Successful learners will be equipped with the knowledge and practical skills needed to treat a range of injuries and diseases that could occur in these environments, such as trauma and catastrophic bleeding. 
 
Our venue is Aston Rowant Nature Reserve in the Chilterns, an AONB. With easy access from Junction 6 on the M40. Our training focuses on scenario based learning, travelling through the reserve. Group bookings could be held at your own venue. 

Outdoor First Aid 16 Hours 

Outdoor Pursuits 16 Hour First Aid to meet the requirements laid down by many National Governing Body awards, and is aligned with the Institute of Outdoor Learning, matching their Statement of Good Practice. It covers primary and secondary care and adapted to the outdoor environment where the emergency services may be harder to access. 
 
Our course is very practical, and scenario based using the instructors 25 years’ experience of instructing in the outdoors, mountain rescue, prehospital emergency care and trekking to make the course memorable and relevant. The training can be tailored to suit different adventure sports particularly for clubs whether climbing, walking or mountain biking. The training is physical incorporating steep hills and woodland.

Beyond First Aid 

The leading qualification for prehospital care, the Qualsafe First Response Emergency Care (Level 3 RQF) covers the full range of skills required by the HSE for first aid, and more! 
 
Over 5 days, you will fulfill the competencies set out in the Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) skills framework at descriptor level D (Advanced Provider), gaining the knowledge and practical skills needed to deal with a range of prehospital emergency care situations in an austere environment. Including Patient Assessment and Management, Emergency Trauma, Focused Emergency and Urgent Care. 
 
This course is aimed at outdoor professionals who want a recognised qualification to support their professional NGB qualifications, search and rescue, trip leaders, teachers, film crew, university staff. 
 
For schools, this course can include OFA and Paediatric first aid certification to meet school requirements (additional fee for registration). Contact us for more information.

Emergency First Aid at Work plus Forestry (EFAW+F) 

The Emergency First Aid at Work + F Level 3 qualification is ideal for most businesses whose risk assessment identified they require an individual to act as an emergency first aider in their workplace. Upon successful completion of this qualification, candidates will be equipped with the essential skills needed to give safe, prompt, and effective first aid in emergency situations. 
 
This version of the EFAW course includes the extra subjects required by the Forestry Commission to include extra subjects covered include severe cuts like chainsaws, crush injuries, Hypothermia and Lyme Disease.

Forest Schools First Aid 

Forest Schools First Aid is the 16 Hour First Aid course with the added Paediatric Elements to meet the requirements for Forest School providers and also National Governing Body awards, and is aligned with the Institute of Outdoor Learning, matching their Statement of Good Practice.
